Tongue Tie Babies
Is Your Child Struggling with Feeding or Showing Signs of Tongue Tie?
If your baby is having difficulty breastfeeding or bottle-feeding, it could be due to limited tongue movement. This can result in a poor latch, insufficient milk intake, and growing frustration for both you and your little one.
1
Signs of Speech Delays or Challenges
Tongue tie can also make it difficult for your child to produce certain sounds, particularly those requiring tongue contact with the roof of the mouth. This can hinder speech clarity and overall language development.
2
Breathing and Posture Concerns
An inability to rest the tongue properly may cause your baby to develop an open mouth posture or rely on mouth breathing. This can lead to dryness, a higher risk of infections, and even potential changes in facial structure over time.
3
Other Possible Effects
Tongue tie can contribute to difficulties such as trouble swallowing, gagging, picky eating, sleep disturbances, bedwetting, and even crooked teeth as your child grows.

Tongue Tie Adults
Could Tongue Tie Be Affecting Your Daily Life?
Tongue tie isn’t just a concern for children—it can have significant impacts on adults as well. If you’ve been experiencing persistent issues, from speech difficulties to chronic pain, a tongue tie could be the underlying cause.
1
Speech Difficulties
Struggling to pronounce certain sounds? Tongue tie can make communication challenging, affecting your speech clarity and, ultimately, your confidence.
2
Oral Health Concerns
Restricted tongue movement can hinder your ability to maintain proper oral hygiene, increasing the risk of tooth decay, gum disease, and other dental issues.
3
Chronic Pain and Discomfort
Are you dealing with frequent jaw, neck, or head pain? Tongue tie may contribute to myofascial pain, causing tightness, migraines, and even forward head posture.
4
Sleep Apnea and Snoring
Sleep apnea and snoring are more than just nuisances—they’re signs that something may be wrong. A tongue tie can obstruct your airway during sleep, leading to restless nights and poor sleep quality.
5
Digestive Problems
Digestive issues like bloating, acid reflux, and poor digestion could be linked to a tongue tie. Improper swallowing patterns can negatively affect your gut health and overall digestion.
6
Other Potential Effects
From difficulty swallowing and chewing to challenges in playing wind instruments or even kissing, a tongue tie can impact various aspects of your daily life, including your posture and overall well-being.

We recently visited Dr Wickham to discuss our 10 week olds tongue tie. We had a lot of questions and Dr Wickham couldn’t have been more informative. He performed the procedure during the appointment which was quick and easy and we had a very happy girl seconds later. We will be forever thankful for the service he provided. Would 100% recommend.

I reached out to Dr Wickham regarding our babies suspected tongue tie. He was very quick to respond and offered reassurance to an anxious mum prior to the appointment. During the consultation all of our questions were answered in detail and we felt our 9 week old was in very safe and experienced hands. The procedure was quick and didn’t appear to cause our baby discomfort. Almost overnight his reflux disappeared. He has since been able to come off reflux medication as a result of the tongue release and is a much happier and settled baby due to improved feeding. Thank you Dr Wickham!
